Periodontal (gum) Disease is the bacterial destruction of soft tissue and bone around the teeth.
2. What are the signs of periodontal (gum) disease?
Signs of periodontal disease include: inflammed gums, bleeding gums,breath odor, movement or shiifting of teeth, development of spaces between the teeth, and reddening of the gum tissues.
3. Who gets periodontal disease?
Anyone can get periodontal disease, and it is a top cause of tooth loss in America today.
4. How does one know if I have a gum disease? And What do I do if I think I have gum disease?
If you have any of the symptoms mentioned above, consult a periodontist(a specialist in diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease) for an evaluation to determine if periodontal disease is present.

After a thorough examination and review of the periodontal films, and identification of the conditions, your Periodontist can determine what treatment may be necessary.
